When it comes to coolers, Rtic is a brand that has challenged the long-standing leader in the market, which is Yeti. It is just a relatively new company, being established in 2014. Most of the designs of the brand for their products include mostly items that directly compete with Yeti. And rightly so, it has stayed in this niche up until today. Rtic produces hard side coolers and soft side coolers. The company also sells drinkware, totes, bags, duffles, and other accessories.

Harry Styles breaks 127-year-old Vogue record flouting fashion norms

Harry Styles appearance on the cover of Vogue Magazine’s December issue is one for the fashion history books – and no, not because he’s wearing a dress.

According to The Huffington Post, the former-One Direction star is the first male to grace the mag’s cover alone in its 127-year history.

Styles, 26, told Vogue he was inspired to flout fashion’s so-called gender rules by his musical icons: Prince, David Bowie, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury and Elton John.

“They’re such showmen. As a kid it was completely mind-blowing. Now I’ll put on something that feels really flamboyant, and I don’t feel crazy wearing it.”

On the cover, the Sign Of The Times singer wears a Gucci tuxedo jacket, with satin lapels, over a dove-grey tulle evening gown.

Styles has often worn clothing either explicitly for women, or in a feminine style, such as this Gucci chiffon shirt he wore to The Met Gala in 2019.

Styles has often worn clothing either explicitly for women, or in a feminine style, such as this Gucci chiffon shirt he wore to The Met Gala in 2019.

In the accompanying article, Styles describes good clothes as being “like a superhero outfit”.

“Clothes are there to have fun with and experiment with and play with,” Styles said.

“Once you remove any barriers, obviously you open up the arena in which you can play. I’ll go in shops sometimes, and I just find myself looking at the women’s clothes thinking they’re amazing.”

The cover ends 2020 on a high note, after what might have been a lacklustre year for Styles professionally.

In September, he was forced to postpone his world tour, including his New Zealand shows, “until further notice”, due to coronavirus. Fans, including one who spent about $21,000 on flights and tickets, were devastated.

In early November, filming on Don’t Worry Darling, the Olivia Wilde-directed period drama he stars in opposite Florence Pugh, was shut down due to the virus, too.

The year has had some Golden moments for singer’s popularity and celebrity, however.

In May, according to The Insider, he was lauded for his gentlemanly behaviour on the set of the Watermelon Sugar video shoot by the models he worked with, earning him the title “consent king”.

In September, he set the entire Internet on fire when his car broke down outside a superfan’s house and he ended up feeding her fish.

In October, 72-year-old pal Stevie Nicks told E! if he were closer to her age, Styles would be “her type”.

The same month, he made headlines for taking the world on a glorious Italian holiday – lockdowns, masks and social distancing be damned – with his music video for the song Golden.

Now his playful,

Could M&S sell Jaeger dresses to lure back lost shoppers? Fashion brand tops a hit-list of 20 possible tie-ups

Valuable: The Jaeger brand is certain to appeal to M&S’s core customers

Marks & Spencer held discussions with British fashion brand Jaeger shortly before the high street lockdown as part of an overhaul of its clothing strategy coming in the new year, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Sources said the retail giant separately held informal talks about a possible acquisition of the business as recently as last week.

The Mail on Sunday understands Marks & Spencer – which declined to comment – has drawn up a ‘hit list’ of at least 20 brands with which it would like to form partnerships and that Jaeger is among them.

The discussions that took place prior to the coronavirus lockdown centred on a ‘collaboration’ as part of a broad strategic plan to reposition Marks & Spencer’s clothing and home business with brand partnerships to draw in new and lapsed shoppers.

A source told The Mail on Sunday that a full swoop on the brand has since been discussed internally while another said talks have taken place over a deal – possibly even a strategic partnership or a stake – since it was put up for sale by its owner Philip Day this month.

But another Marks & Spencer source appeared to distance the firm from any active interest in Jaeger, insisting there was ‘no formal process’.

Jaeger is run by Lauren Day, the daughter of the fashion tycoon whose group is in financial disarray after the pandemic hit trade.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill – also the name of Day’s group – and Ponden Home were formally placed in administration a week ago. Day has been in talks to sell a stake in Peacocks to hedge fund Davidson Kempner – as revealed last month by The Mail on Sunday.

As part of the overhaul of the group, Day’s other businesses – which include Austin Reed – have been put up for sale with several ‘big hitters’ said to be interested in Jaeger. Marks & Spencer’s fierce rival Next is thought to be among them.

Sportswear mogul Mike Ashley is also said to be interested.

One senior fashion market source familiar with the Jaeger and M&S businesses said a collaboration with Jaeger could work ‘incredibly well’ and would sharpen the appeal to Marks & Spencer’s core customers.

The source said that despite Jaeger’s troubled past, Day’s daughter has built new product ranges and improved margins.

‘M&S has a premium food business but its clothing doesn’t measure up. A brand like Jaeger could help bridge the gap,’ the source added.

High streets and town centres were in crisis even before the pandemic. A handful of shops giants have used their financial might to snap up retail businesses, including Boohoo which acquired the online divisions of Karen Millen and Coast a year ago for just £18.2million.

Ashley seized department store House of Fraser in 2018 and last year bought clothing business Jack Wills

River Oaks software engineer wins patent recognition awards from Society of Women Engineers

Nelia Mazula wasn’t proud of her patents at first — she didn’t understand the significance that they held.

Now, Mazula hangs her patents on her wall, proud of her accomplishments as an African American woman in the STEM field.

On HoustonChronicle.com: Memorial area senior living community celebrates Veteran’s Day with memorial wall

Mazula, who lives in River Oaks, is a Houston-based innovator, engineer and digital transformation strategist. This year, the Society of Women Engineers, the world’s largest advocate for women in engineering and technology, announced Mazula would be the recipient of five Patent Recognition Awards for her software patents that focused on augmented reality, big data visualization and artificial intelligence.

“I am honored to represent Houston and receive this award,” said Mazula. “I hope to serve as an example of how an African American woman is positively contributing to the wholesale digital transformation of an established industry like oil and gas.”

The Patent Recognition Awards recognizes SWE members who have been awarded a patent within the previous 10 years. Mazula has five patents: Augmented reality updating of 3D CAD models; Laser scan re-engineering of 3D CAD models; Density based graphical mapping; Embedded frequency-based search and 3D graphical data processing; and 3D to 2D reimaging for search.

Mazula’s patents essentially helped digitize engineering in the oil and gas industry, she explained.

“If you go onto Google Maps, you can now see a city in 3D,” said Mazula. “What oil and gas has been trying to figure out for a long time now is, ‘how do we do that with a plant? Or with a rig?’ That’s where my patents come in.”

Mazula’s patents could save oil and gas companies money as they can essentially allow engineers to view rigs virtually, without ever having to go onsite. The patents become even more critical due to the COVID-19 pandemic as working remotely becomes the new normal.

Mazula was born in Mozambique but moved to America when she was young. She got into STEM in high school when one of her teachers recommended her to a STEM camp at a local university, prompting her to major in engineering in college.

After college, Mazula went back to Mozambique a joined a natural gas project, not knowing anything about the industry. The project ended up pointing her career toward the oil and gas industry after she saw the good that the project did for parts of the country.

“Essentially it built the infrastructure. We put in all the sewage, all the piping, we reinforced the roads so trucks can come in and out,” said Mazula. “I never thought something I did could be so impactful and that just gave me a lot of respect for the industry and what it does in terms of transformation.”

Along with many people around the world, Mazula followed the oil and gas industry back to Houston where she is now a software engineer.

“People don’t talk about what we do but there is a lot of technology in Houston,” said

The UK’s Royal National Institute of Blind People has created the first accessible pregnancy test for visually impaired women

  • Visually impaired women cannot use traditional pregnancy tests, so British charity the RNIB teamed up with marketing network The&Partnership to create an accessible one.
  • Traditional tests rely on visual cues, meaning visually impaired women need help to use them – but the new test delivers results using a raised button.
  • The purpose of the test is to grant women everywere the right to privacy and dignity, say the two companies behind it.
  • The product will not go beyond the prototype stage, but its creators hope the research will inspire other companies to focus on accessible design.
  • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

Visually impaired women can’t use pregnancy tests without assistance, so British designers have created a pioneering prototype, which allows such women to be the first to learn their results.

Instead of the usual striped lines or electronic screen, the prototype test produces a large raised button to indicate a positive result. This allows women to feel their results with their fingers.

The prototype also features bright colors to differentiate between the top and bottom of the test, a 50% larger absorbent pad, and a resistant grip on the reverse for ease.

Traditional pregnancy tests rely on visual cues

Currently, all pregnancy tests available in the market provide visual results. Women with visual impairments must ask for help to read their tests, and “are therefore never the first to know what is happening to their own bodies,” according to the companies behind the prototype, The&Partnership and UK charity the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

This is despite more than 5 million pregnancy tests being sold in the UK every year, making them one of the most-used pieces of home medical equipment, according to the RNIB.

Danielle, a blind woman who was involved in the development of the prototype, said: “I’ve taken a pregnancy test in the past and it’s been negative, and the person who has been reading it has said ‘Oh it’s probably just as well though, isn’t it?'”

In the past, she has also resorted to asking her neighbor for help to read test results, because her then-partner also had a visual impairment.

Not being able to read their results in private isn’t the only problem visually impaired women face when using traditional pregnancy tests.

According to the RNIB, the packaging is difficult to open and the small size of the absorbent tip makes it difficult for women to tell whether they have sufficient urine on it.

The predominantly white designs of the tests also make it difficult for women to tell which way round the test should be held and where the

EuroBasket Women: GB beat Poland in qualifier in Istanbul

Temi Fagbenle
Temi Fagbenle and Great Britain came close to Olympic qualification in Belgrade in February

Great Britain’s women recovered from a slow start to beat Poland 77-49 in their EuroBasket qualifier in Istanbul.

Chantelle Handy hit five threes in her 15 points, Kristine Anigwe had 15 points and Eilidh Simpson added 12 points and five assists.

The result means GB are likely to finish second in their three-team group, but would probably still need to beat group leaders Belarus to qualify.

The game was moved to Istanbul in response to coronavirus restrictions.

GB had won convincingly in Poland exactly a year ago, but with three starters missing from the line-up that had played in the Olympic qualifiers in Belgrade in February, they found it difficult to find a rhythm early in the game.

Simpson, missing in Belgrade in February, returned to again prove the on-court leader, taking on the responsibility of running the offense and scoring most of her points in the first half.

Although they struggled to generate good scoring chances early on, GB’s strong defence ensured Poland had their own scoring problems.

GB found their range in the second quarter. Handy hit three threes and Simpson, top scorer in the reverse fixture a year ago, added another in a 17-3 run and GB were suddenly leading by 10 points.

Simpson pushed the tempo for GB at the start of the second half and Temi Fagbenle and Cheridene Green combined for a burst of points as GB began to take a stranglehold on the game. The pair finished with eight and 10 points respectively.

Twelve points up at the start of the final quarter, GB slammed the door by holding Poland scoreless for six and a half minutes midway through the quarter to record an easy second victory in the group.

“Going into the game today, the first goal was to win, and the second was to win by as many as we can, knowing that points might add up in the end,” Handy told BBC Sport. “We knew it was going to be tough but I think we did well under the circumstances.”

Barbie Dolls Sport Recycled Fashion In Virtual Runway Show On Saturday

Sporting a jaunty cap made of a recycled pacifier, one of many Barbie dolls decked out in trash-based fashion took the spotlight in a virtual runway show at the Sonoma Community Center Saturday.

The “Barbie: Reclaimed & Reinvented” Zoom meeting was part of the center’s ongoing 10th annual “Trashion Fashion” event in which models – and Barbie dolls – show off clothing made from cast-off and recycled materials.

One doll’s shiny tinfoil strapless top, closely molded to her upper body, demonstrated that detritus need not be dclass.

Another doll, dubbed “Goddess of the Sea,” wore a seashell skirt- a tongue-twisting sobriquet that didn’t faze the event’s hosts, Eric Jackson, the center’s creative programs manager, and office coordinator Molly Spencer.

The hosts held up doll after doll for examination, enthusing over the inventive transformations. The show also included hilarious videos, one involving a courtship between a Ken and a Barbie wearing a skirt made of bright orange teabag containers.

On a more serious note, one doll wore long black judges’ robes and a recycled lace collar in homage to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the associate Supreme Court justice who died in September. Another doll was dressed as a suffragist, celebrating the 100th anniversary in 2020 of women’s right to vote.

Around 600 people attended last year’s in-person event, and more than 100 people showed up for Saturday’s virtual event, exceeding the number of people allowed to attend by Zoom.

The Barbies and their tiny haute poubelle (trash) outfits were mostly made by community members, though some came from as far away as Arkansas and New Jersey.

“At the end of the day, this is about creative waste management – how we give everything a second life” to avoid the planet being buried in garbage, Jackson said.

In the chat section, Sloane Pagal, program manager for Zero Waste Sonoma, commented, “I want to thank the Sonoma Community Center for putting on this event, plus the Trashion Fashion show!

“When we start thinking of discarded items as useful materials we can shift our thinking to become more aware of our waste footprint and prioritize reducing and reusing. Great job everyone,” Pagal said.

The dolls are for sale in a silent auction to raise funds for the center. To bid on a doll, visit https://sonomacc2020.ggo.bid/bidding/package-browse. Bids can be made until 8 p.m. Nov. 21.
