Sophia Loren Talks Aging, Acting, Beauty & More on CBS SUNDAY MORNING

Academy Award-winning screen legend Sophia Loren has been known for decades as one of filmdom’s classic glamorous actresses. Now, at 86, her image of beauty has changed over time, she tells Seth Doane in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING to be broadcast Sunday, Nov. 8 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.

“It’s not important. The appearance – it’s important – maybe in films,” Loren tells Doane. “But, it’s what you have to give inside of yourself, your soul, your everything. The way you believe in things. The way you are with your family. The way you are with your friends. It’s – that’s life, really. That’s a good life.”After a decade away from acting, Loren is back with “The Life Ahead,” a film launching Nov. 13 on Netflix. She plays a Holocaust survivor who cares for the kids of sex workers. The film is directed by her son, Edoardo Ponti.”It was time for me to start, to start at my age, which I’m not going to tell you how old I am, and you may know it already, but it’s fun,” Loren says. “It’s fun. It’s wonderful.”Loren talks with Doane about acting, her career and being directed by her son. Ponti also opens up about why he chose his mother for the role and directing her in the film.”My mother approaches every movie like it was her first,” Ponti says, adding she also doubts herself.”Every day. Every take. Every moment,” Ponti says of Loren’s doubt. “But it’s part of her process – and it’s beautiful because after 60 years of doing this, she still approaches it with the same anxiety, the same spontaneity, the same passion as if it were her first film.”CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Global star Priyanka Chopra on Thursday, October 29, marked 12 years of the blockbuster hit ‘Fashion’ with a long and insightful Instagram post, terming the experience of working in the film as her “first truly immersive acting jobs”.

Helmed by noted filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, besides Priyanka Chopra, the film also starred Kangana Ranaut, Mugdha Godse and Arbaaz Khan in vital roles.

‘Fashion’ fetched Priyanka Chopra her first National Film Award for Best Actor (Female) and therefore it goes without saying that the film holds a special place in her heart.

Taking to her verified Instagram account, alongside an over one-minute thirty-second clip featuring visuals from the film, Priyanka wrote, “12 years to #Fashion. It was 2008. I was just about 5 years into my acting career and had already seen extreme highs and extreme lows in it. I was told taking on this movie could be a risk. But working with the brilliant Madhur Bhandarkar and his incredible team of writers, Ajay Monga, Niranjan Iyengar and Anuraadha Tewari, for almost 6 months before we even started the movie, was one of the most collaborative experiences of my life.”

She continued, “Then on set, bringing life into all the various shades of my character Meghna Mathur, was one of my first truly immersive acting jobs. Thank you to the incredible cast that made everything I did much better. Thank you to the amazing technicians and crew, who through all the craziness, always brought it home. And most importantly, thank you to the audience who went to theatres to watch what was then billed as a ‘female-centric’ movie and made it a huge success which in turn helped showcase that women could hold their own at the box office. #Jalwa Thank you all for remembering this piece of work with such fondness #20in2020.”

Earlier, during an interaction with ETimes, Kangana spoke at length about winning National Award Best Supporting Actor (Female) for ‘Fashion’ which she did not expect at all.

The actor stated, “It’s been amazing that I got a National Award for that but to be honest, I didn’t expect it. I have also done even stronger performances like Gangster and Wo Lamhe before that which didn’t get me a National Award and this suddenly got me the award.”

While talking about Priyanka, Kangana was all praises. She shared, “Priyanka is fabulous. She is somebody who back then also when I was 19 and she was such a big star. I was so starry-eyed because when I was in school, at that time I have been watching her films and here I was in my initial years. She was so cool. She didn’t treat me like a kid or a junior. I felt like she is a friend, who shared food with me and asked me questions like ‘how do I look? is this ok? how this dress is looking?’ So I didn’t feel like she is my senior and she is such a big star.
