She’s one of our finest musical exports, but during her appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Adele also affirmed her status as one seriously stylish singer.
So much so that the Tottenham native didn’t just stop at one, or maybe two, fashionable outfits. No, Adele wore a bevvy of high-fashion ensembles, all which showcased her recent weight loss (which she made reference to during her skit.)
Not that the 32-year-old singer is any stranger to fashion; she sent the Internet into disarray in August when she and Beyoncé wore the same moon-print Marine Serre top and lest we forget the breathtaking army green Givenchy gown she wore to the Grammy’s in 2017.
It was more that this weekend’s appearance on SNL simply affirmed what we already knew: that the Brit school-educated singer, songwriter, and performer knows what suits her and she wears it with aplomb. So much so that for the appearance, Adele reunited with her longtime collaborator and stylist, Gaelle Paul.
To kick start Saturday’s buffet of fashionable ensembles, the star sported the Rohtak off-the-shoulder blazer from New York-based brand Brock Collection’s autumn/winter 2020 collection (£1,334, buy now), which she paired with spray-on effect stirrup-style leggings and a pair of Zoom-worthy Schiaparelli chandelier earrings. Sam McKnight, the man behind the barnets of Princess Diana, Kate Moss and Lady Gaga, masterminded Adele’s hair for the occasion, looking to Old Hollywood for inspiration.
The high-fashion moments didn’t stop there. There was everything from the ombré velvet Acne Studios shirt we’d been teased with ahead of the show’s broadcast, to a Valentino green jumpsuit featuring the brand’s floral ‘Kissing Lovers’ print. Opting for high-octane bling for the occasion, the star amped up each look with an array of jewellery, from stacks of Cartier bracelets to OTT gold hoops by Broken English and Meghan Markle-approved jeweller, Shaun Leane.
Posting to her Instagram, Adele’s stylist Paul tagged the star in a series of promotional shots for SNL, all of which confirm that the singer can pull off absolutely anything.
From a black hooded sweatshirt from London label Ashish, emblazoned with “This Is Such A Nightmare”, to an “I Love NY” three-piece by American brand Libertine, which she elevated with a pair of cobalt heels courtesy of Sarah Jessica Parker’s shoe collection, Paul’s posts showed that Adele isn’t afraid to have fun with her look.
All that’s left to do now that Saturday Night Live is over (and we’ve re-watched it four times) is to sit and patiently wait for Adele’s new music, which she’s promised is coming soon…
