Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea Clinton are getting into business with Apple.

The duo are set to host and executive produce a docuseries called “Gutsy Women,” which has been handed a straight-to-series order at Apple TV Plus.

Inspired by their book “The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience,” the series will spotlight a diverse cast of trailblazing women. It will see the Clintons set out on a quest to answer the question: what exactly does it take to be a Gutsy Woman?

It represents the latest in a string of projects either involving the former secretary of state or about her.

Clinton is teaming with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and Warner Bros. TV to develop anthology drama “The Woman’s Hour” at CW, based on the Elaine Weiss book “The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote.” While an alternative history series imagining that Hillary Rodham never married Bill Clinton is in the pipeline at Hulu with Sarah Treem attached to write and exec produce.

She was also the subject of a Hulu documentary series at the beginning of the year.

“Gutsy Women” is being produced for Apple by HiddenLight Productions, the newly-launched shingle founded by the two Clintons and Sam Branson. Johnny Webb and Roma Khanna are also on board as executive producers.

It joins a growing list of docuseries on Apple TV Plus, which already includes “The Oprah Conversation” and Emmy-nominated “Home” and “Dear…”

Secretary Clinton is repped by Robert Barnett and Michael O’Connor at Williams & Connolly LLP and Steven Burkow at Ziffren Brittenham.

Best MagSafe accessories for iPhone 12: which magnetic Apple gadgets are for you?

Perhaps the biggest new feature the iPhone 12 family of phones bring is MagSafe, a small magnetic coil in the back of the phone that works with a range of different peripherals to improve your iPhone experience.

It’s an intriguing concept, perhaps reminiscent of Motorola’s Moto Mods or the current accessory pins found with Apple’s iPads. The iPhone 12 range hasn’t been out long enough for us to see how popular they get, but there’s certainly a lot of potential.

Apple’s initial applications for Magsafe are twofold: magnetic chargers that stick to the back of your phone, and clip-on cases that stay stuck to it, but as third-party manufacturers play around with the tech there’s a lot more they could achieve.

MagSafe has a lot in common with 5G in that respect; both are technologies in the iPhone 12 that’ll only get more impressive over time.

If you’re not too sure on how the iPhone MagSafe works, we’ve explained everything you need to know in this guide – and we’ve also listed some of the best MagSafe gadgets on sale right now that you might want to consider buying.

How does MagSafe work?

Simply put, MagSafe consists of a strong magnet under the back case of the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The ring-shaped magnet is placed to the center of the phone’s rear – it sounds pretty big, from Apple’s descriptions.

MagSafe gadgets are accessories you can buy separately to your iPhone, which make use of this magnetic ring so they can clip to it. You can even attach multiple MagSafe peripherals, like a case and wallet attachment at the same time, though we’d imagine not all are compatible with each other.

One use of MagSafe is for wireless charging – though since MagSafe chargers are wires that attach to the back of the phone, perhaps ‘portless charging’ is a better way of describing it. The iPhone 12 charges at 15W using MagSafe – that’s twice the speed of the charging offered using a normal wireless charger with the device.

You can also clip on things like cases and wallets (for your credit cards), and since you can use both at the same time, we’re going to assume the magnet is pretty strong.

What are the best MagSafe accessories to buy?

These are the MagSafe accessories you can buy right now, but expect this list to change a lot over the coming months as the company is set to launch more add-ons and we’re expecting more from third-party manufacturers.

Fast portless charging

Guaranteed fast speeds

Not quite wireless

The iPhone 12 MagSafe charger uses the smartphone’s magnets to properly align, making sure you get the full powering speeds possible. Sure, having a magnetic charger clipped to the back of your phone effectively makes the whole ‘wireless’ thing redundant, but it’s still less fiddly than

Apple gives older iPhones the gift of FaceTime HD

In October, Apple launched FaceTime HD on its iPhone 12 line of products, meaning users could make video calls in 1080p resolution (though only when connected to Wi-Fi or a 5G network).

Apple gives older iPhones the gift of FaceTime HD

This was a welcome feature, though it was slightly odd that earlier iPhones — especially those that have 12-megapixel front cameras — were not given the feature.

Now, MacMagazine has found out that iPhone 8 and up have received FaceTime HD as well. The feature was introduced in iOS 14.2, though Apple’s official release notes do not mention it. However, if you go to specs page of, say iPhone 11, you’ll see that it has “FaceTime HD video calling over Wi-Fi” listed as a feature. The feature is also listed for iPhone 8 and up on Apple’s iPhone “Compare iPhone models” page.

The full list of iPhones that now support FaceTime HD is as follows: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

FaceTime HD makes a pretty big difference compared to regular FaceTime, so you’ll likely notice it in your calls. Of course, if you don’t have a 5G iPhone, you’ll need to be connected to Wi-Fi for the feature to work.

Shopping for an Apple Watch? What you need to know before buying

One of the most heavily advertised products during the holiday sales is the Apple Watch, primarily for the entry-level Series 3 model, which is available for as low as $119 at Walmart.

Buyers beware: What’s being offered for a great price is a 3-year-old product from 2017 that doesn’t offer many of the newer features. How does it compare with the latest and greatest, the Series 6 or the more affordable SE?

We’re here to help. What you need to know:

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Caveat: Apple Watch ‘Family Setup’: How it works, what it costs and what it won’t do

Apple guide: So you want a new iPhone? Apple’s got 7. How to choose the right one for you

Pricing

The Series 6, the latest, has a starting list price of $399 from Apple, compared with $279 for the 2020 entry SE and the Series 3 for $199. Older models are available at various outlets, including the Series 5 for $329 at Best Buy and Amazon. Note the “starting” price. Apple offers a $25 gift card with purchase of the Series 3 for its holiday sale, which ends Monday night.

You need an iPhone*

The Apple Watch is not compatible with Android phones such as the Samsung Galaxy series. What about using it as a plain watch? No dice. You still need an iPhone to set up the Watch, so if you’re not in the Apple world, forget about it. Apple is specific about which model you’ll need. The Series 6 Watch works only with iPhones dating back to the 6S, from 2014. If you held onto your old iPhone 6 or 5S, sorry, it’s not compatible.

*There is a new way this year for some to use a Watch without an iPhone, via Apple’s new “Family” plan. It lets parents buy editions of the Apple Watch and tie them to their iPhone. (Note that the Series 3 watch that’s being discounted doesn’t work with it, but the SE and Series 6 do.)

More on the family plan in a minute.

GPS edition or Wi-Fi/cellular?

The GPS editions of the watch are $100 cheaper, but you’ll need that iPhone on you when you use the watch for receiving notifications, calls, streaming music, apps, talking to the Siri personal assistant and the like. Spend the extra money, and you can do all of the above when out and about (as joggers or stand-up paddlers might want to do), but again, you’ll pay for it. You need to spring an extra $10 monthly on your wireless service plan.

More on the family plan

Apple touts the SE as starting at $279 and the Series 6 at $399, but for the family plan, parents need to purchase step-up editions with cellular connectivity. Those SE models start at $329 for the 40mm watchface or $359 for the 44mm version. Then add roughly $10 monthly for your wireless plan (depending on the

Forget the Apple Store’s Cyber Monday gift card offer. Here’s where to get better prices

The Apple Store’s Black Friday deals are here, and they aren’t much.

Óscar Gutiérrez/CNET

This story is part of Holiday Gift Guide 2020, CNET’s gift picks with expert advice, reviews and recommendations for the latest tech gifts for you and your family.

Black Friday sales are morphing into Cyber Monday sales, and prices are fluctuating wildly. But if you’re quick, at the time of this writing, you can score the AirPods Pro for $230, or an Apple Watch Series 6 for $330 at Amazon. At the Apple Store, those same products will run you $50 to $79 more — but you’ll get a gift card for a future purchase. That, in a nutshell, is the problem with Apple’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday “deal” offering: The company effectively never cuts prices and just dangles gift cards instead. The current promotion runs now through Cyber Monday, Nov. 30, with gift cards up to $150, depending on the item purchased.

In fact, that $150 gift card is a rarity, and only available if you purchase either an Intel-equipped MacBook Pro 16-inch or 21.5-inch iMac. Other Macs, including the new 13-inch MacBook Pro that features Apple’s M1 chip, are not eligible. Neither are the new MacBook Air, Mac Mini, larger 27-inch iMac or iMac Pro. If you can still find a 13-inch Intel-equipped MacBook Air or Intel-equipped 13-inch MacBook Pro with two Thunderbolt ports, you could get a $50 Apple Store gift card. As Apple has discontinued both models, you’d have to find one of these in a physical Apple Store.

Beyond the Macs, most new Apple gear is not eligible for the gift card promotion. You could get a $50 gift card with the iPhone 11, XR or SE (so, not the new iPhone 12 line). Gift cards for iPads are limited to $50 for the iPad Mini or $100 for either size of the iPad Pro with no offers available for the new iPad or iPad Air.

Apple is also not offering double Apple Card cash back, which it did last year. This year the cash-back rate appears to be staying at its regular 3%.

The promotions are yet another reminder that the best Apple deals are almost always found outside Apple’s own physical or virtual stores. At the Apple Store, for instance, a new set of AirPods ($159) or AirPods Pro ($249) can get you a $25 Apple Store gift card but no discount off the regular price. By contrast, the regular AirPods and the Pro models have dipped to $110 and $170, respectively, at Amazon and other retailers (though they have been in and out of stock). That’s a savings of $49 to $79 — both much more than a $25 gift card that can only be redeemed later.

Black Friday is finally here and so are its many sales on tech — from laptops to Apple’s AirPods Pro — and across major retailers, including Amazon, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, Adorama and many more. Common among many deals are Apple products, from the aforementioned AirPods to MacBook Pros and Apple Watch models. Even Apple is holding a specific four-day sale, during which it’s offering shoppers up to $150 in gift cards with the purchase of select Apple products.

To help give you an idea of all the best Apple deals right now across retailers, we compiled outstanding options below, followed by where you can find swaths of sales on Apple products both newly released and previous models.

According to price comparison site camelcamelcamel, this is the lowest price the Apple Watch series 6 has ever been listed. One of several major upgrades to the Apple Watch is a new tool to measure blood oxygen levels and an improved tool for measuring sleep as well as a hand-washing countdown timer. Apple also claims the new Apple Watch 6 charges faster than its predecessor by nearly 40 percent.
