Aditya Narayan, Shweta Agarwal’s wedding festivities begin, see pic from their roka ceremony – bollywood

A picture from singer Aditya Narayan and his longtime girlfriend, Shweta Agarwal’s ‘roka’ ceremony was shared online on Wednesday. The couple recently announced wedding plans, after over a decade together.

This comes a day after Aditya’s social media post, in which he professed his love for Shweta. In his post, the singer had written, “I am the luckiest man alive to have found Shweta, my soulmate, 11 years ago & we are finally tying the knot in December. We are both extremely private people & believe that it’s best to keep one’s private life, well, private. Taking a break from social media for shaadi prep. See you in December. PS Kaha than a… kabhi na kabhi to miloge kahin pe hamko yakin hai (I told you that we were sure to meet).”

Previously, the singer had said in an interview to SpotboyE, “We’re getting married on December 1. Because of Covid-19, we can invite only close family and friends, since Maharashtra does not allow more than 50 guests to gather at a wedding.”

His father, singer Udit Narayan, had also expressed his dismay at not being able to host a lavish affair, and had said in an interview to Dainik Bhaskar that although he’d known Shweta for many years, he wasn’t aware that his son was romantically involved with her.

He said, “I have known Shweta for many years but only as a friend of my son. Aditya came to me one day and told me that he wants to marry Shweta. I just told Aditya that if something happens later, don’t blame the parents.” He added, “I wanted to celebrate Aditya’s wedding in a grand manner and call many people. But I will not go against the decision of the government. I hope that the situation will be cured by December so that I can enjoy my only son’s marriage.”

Aditya in a recent interview recalled his earliest interactions with Shweta, and how she ‘rejected’ his advances. “I clearly remember she liked me for the first time when she saw me bonding with my family members, so she realised that I am a family man, and for me, relations matter. Because even she had heard bad things about me that main ladkiyan ghumata tha (I was a womaniser). So, I could understand her apprehension,” he told Times Now.

Priyanka Chopra takes a trip down memory lane as Fashion completes 12 years, recalls being warned that film ‘could be a risk’ – bollywood

Priyanka Chopra, who won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, penned a heartfelt note as the film completed 12 years of its release. She said that she was warned how signing the film ‘could be a risk’ but it turned out to be one of the greatest experiences in her life.

Sharing a video of the making of Fashion, Priyanka wrote on Instagram, “#20in2020. 12 years to #Fashion. It was 2008. I was just about 5 years into my acting career and had already seen extreme highs and extreme lows in it. I was told taking on this movie could be a risk. But working with the brilliant Madhur Bhandarkar and his incredible team of writers, Ajay Monga, Niranjan Iyengar and Anuraadha Tewari, for almost 6 months before we even started the movie, was one of the most collaborative experiences of my life.”

“Then on set, bringing life into all the various shades of my character Meghna Mathur, was one of my first truly immersive acting jobs. Thank you to the incredible cast that made everything I did much better. Thank you to the amazing technicians and crew, who through all the craziness, always brought it home,” she added.

Priyanka also thanked the audience for turning up in huge numbers and proving that a film led by women could work at the box office. “And most importantly, thank you to the audience who went to theatres to watch what was then billed as a ‘female-centric’ movie and made it a huge success which in turn helped showcase that women could hold their own at the box office. #Jalwa,” she wrote, adding, “Thank you all for remembering this piece of work with such fondness. #20in2020.”

Bollywood Indian Fusion brings flavorful menu to Dauphin County shopping plaza

Ordinarily, an Indian restaurant like Bollywood Indian Fusion would advertise an all-you-can-eat buffet.

But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the owners of the new Derry Township restaurant backed off on a buffet in exchange for an alternative lunch offering – rice bowls. Diners order the customize bowls with choice of vegetables, meats and sauces.

“It’s just like Chipotle,” said Avelino Furtado, chef and partner.

The BYOB restaurant opened Oct. 25 at 597 E. Main St. at the former Isaac’s Restaurant & Deli at the Park Village Plaza. Partner Dinesh Purohit also owns Bollywood Bar & Grille in Harrisburg and Laxmi’s Indian Grille in Wyomissing.

Plans for the latest restaurant were set in motion before the pandemic.

Purohit said he’s making the best of the situation and following social distancing rules in the dining room and promoting takeout and delivery orders. The Hummelstown/Hershey area near Hersheypark and the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center attracted Purohit.

“And this happens to be a happening plaza,” he added.

Neighbors at the Park Village Plaza (with a Hummelstown mailing address but located in Derry Township) include Duke’s Bar & Grill and Sheetz.

Bollywood’s menu of appetizers, curries, tandoor and rice dishes focuses on Northern Indian cuisine with a few southern specialities thrown in the mix. Furtado previously worked at Passage to India restaurant in Harrisburg.

Appetizers such as palak chaat, fresh sauteed spinach with diced onions, tomatoes and house sauces, and chili panner/chicken are designated signature dishes. Mix-and-match curry options cover tikka masala, vindaloo, lababdar and xacutti – a Goan based curry cooked in roasted coconut and other Indian spices – with choice of vegetables, paneer, chicken, lamb or seafood.

“It’s a very aromatic curry,” Furtado said.

“Our goal is every customer who comes in, we treat them like god. We want them to leave happy when they step out,” Furtado said.

Prices range from $5.95 for some soups and appetizers to $13.95 for vegetarian entrees and $14-$18 for curries. Tandoor dishes are about $15.95, while specialties are $19.95 to $28.95.

Women Rewrite Rules of Bollywood Thanks to Netflix, Amazon

(Bloomberg) — A supernatural film celebrating a female vigilante who’s mistaken for a witch. A biopic about one of India’s first woman combat pilots. And a Mumbai take on “Sex in the City” featuring four working women.

The content of the shows is extremely varied, but what they have in common is they are aimed at an expanding female audience in India and have been churned out by U.S. streaming giants Netflix Inc., Amazon.com Inc.’s Prime Video and others. The companies are rewriting the rules of India’s $34 billion entertainment industry, bringing more women in front of and behind the camera as they spend millions of dollars to grab a share of Asia’s biggest open market for streaming.

An unprecedented surge in women-centric content highlights the disruption in India’s entertainment industry, which has typically relied on an A-list male actor in lead roles to lure in mostly male viewers to score a blockbuster. The shift partly stems from the lockdown amid the coronavirus that shut movie theaters for months. With Indian women increasingly willing to pay for content they can view on their phones or laptops, streaming platforms are pivoting to this undertapped market.

As incomes rise in the $2.9 trillion economy, per capita spending on media and entertainment is expected to almost double to $35 in India by 2021 from five years earlier, according to data from Statista.

A 2019 study by the Boston Consulting Group said Indian women are increasingly having a say in household purchase decisions. A 2016 study by Google and A.T. Kearney estimated that Indian women’s share in overall online spending will jump to 42% by 2020 from 20% in 2015.

More than half of Netflix films released in India this year have a female producer or director, according to Monika Shergill, Netflix India’s vice president of content. Netflix saw unique women visitors jump to 40% last year from 26% in 2018, according to Comscore data. The Los Gatos, California-based company is working with 30 women producers and directors besides a dozen women writers this year, Shergill said.

“Better access to the Internet is pushing creators to make content that resonates with women,” said Ashivini Yardi, producer of Netflix’s hit series “Masaba Masaba,” a show about a single mother and her fashion-designer daughter.

Amazon declined to share women viewership of its shows, but said all six of its originals released in India this year had women leading the charge as either creators, producers, writers or directors.

India’s experience highlights a global trend in which more women are involved in the creation of streaming content geared toward women. Netflix had women helming 20% of its 53 original U.S. films last year, nearly double the rate of representation for women directors across the 100 top-grossing U.S. films of 2019.

While the push for equality is gaining momentum in many film markets, the biggest changes in India are being driven by women seeking more choice in the content targeted to them.
