Harris Adds to a Diverse Staff Where a Majority, Like Their Boss, Are Women of Color

While Ms. Flournoy’s appointment was seen as ensuring a grown-up will be in charge of Ms. Harris’s office, she is not without critics, who said she did not always have the right instincts to protect Mr. Clinton from politically damaging moments.

Many aides in Mrs. Clinton’s orbit hold Ms. Flournoy responsible for Mr. Clinton’s ill-fated airport tarmac meeting with Loretta E. Lynch, in June 2016, when Ms. Lynch was the attorney general and the F.B.I. was looking into the circumstances around Mrs. Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

Mr. Clinton was wrapping up a sweltering day on the campaign trail in Phoenix in support of his wife’s presidential run when the Secret Service alerted Ms. Flournoy and other staff members that Ms. Lynch’s government plane was parked next to his. Ms. Flournoy said the former president, often eager to catch up with friends, acquaintances and even political rivals, would want to say hello to Ms. Lynch, according to a person with knowledge of the events.

Ms. Lynch, who had a foot injury at the time, invited Mr. Clinton onto her plane to escape the heat, and Ms. Flournoy did not stop him from boarding alone, explaining that he and the attorney general should have some privacy.

When the meeting became known it touched off a firestorm of Republican criticism and Ms. Lynch ended up recusing herself from overseeing the email investigation, announcing that she would rely instead on the F.B.I. That set the stage for James B. Comey, the bureau’s director, to make a public statement sharply critical of Mrs. Clinton even as he announced she would not be charged.

Angel Ureña, a spokesman for Mr. Clinton, disputed that Ms. Flournoy was in any way responsible for the tarmac incident and said that she had the support of those who worked with her.

“I’ve worked for Tina for nearly eight years, so I’m pretty well positioned to say where my colleagues and I stand, which is behind her,” Mr. Ureña said. “We love and respect her, will miss her and have absolutely no doubt that she’ll be nothing but an asset to the vice president-elect and the country.”

Is former Elite boss Gerald Marie the Harvey Weinstein of the fashion industry? | News

When Wendy Walsh moved to Paris in 1980 to work as a model, she was excited about what the future held for her. But within weeks, she alleges, the former Elite Models boss Gérald Marie had raped her. Walsh is one of 16 women who have made sexual misconduct allegations against Marie, who for three decades was one of the most powerful men in the fashion industry.

Marie was married to the supermodel Linda Evangelista between 1987 and 1993. Evangelista has praised the “courage and strength” shown by a growing number of women accusing her ex-husband of sexual misconduct and rape, saying she believed the women’s accounts of their experiences with Marie. “During my relationship with Gérald Marie, I knew nothing of these sexual allegations against him, so I was unable to help these women,” said Evangelista. “Hearing them now, and based on my own experiences, I believe that they are telling the truth. It breaks my heart because these are wounds that may never heal, and I admire their courage and strength for speaking up today.”

The investigative reporter Lucy Osborne talks to Anushka Asthana about the women’s stories and how Marie was allegedly able to abuse models for decades. Some inside the modelling world have told Osborne that Marie may be the Harvey Weinstein of the fashion industry.

Marie firmly denies the allegations and his lawyers have said he is “extremely affected” by the accusations. They said he would fight a French criminal case that was opened in September after prosecutors received allegations from four women: “He intends to actively participate in the manifestation of the truth within the scope of the opened criminal investigation,” they said.

The Elite modelling agency went bankrupt in 2004 and split in two. Both new corporate entities have sought to distance themselves from alleged past abuses and have condemned the sort of behaviour covered in this podcast. Oui Management said Marie was not currently an employee.

‘I stand by women having a boss attitude’: Rita Ora calls for equal rights for female artists | People

'I stand by women having a boss attitude': Rita Ora calls for equal rights for female artists

Rita Ora says women in the music industry still have to fight “every day” for equal pay and rights.

The 30-year-old singer-and-actress is proud to have sustained a successful career, but says there is still a long way to go before female stars are treated as equals to their male counterparts.

Speaking to Numero Berlin magazine – of which she is the cover star – Rita said: “We as women are fighting every day to have equal pay, to have an equal voice, to be able to not be judged, to express our femininity in a way where it doesn’t undermine our power.

“Those are things that we fight for every day. Gender equality is something that I stand for. I’m very passionate about it.

“I stand by equal rights, I stand by freedom of speech and I stand by women having a boss attitude.”

She added: “For me, the defining moment is sustaining my career. Being able to still sit here today, take incredible photos, be able to talk about my career 10 years on.

“I think that’s a big achievement for artists. And to be able to sustain something for me and have the next chapter of my life and still be in the business is really amazing.”

As well as her chart success, Rita has starred in the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ franchise, had a cameo in ‘Southpaw’ alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and voiced Dr. Ann Laurent in ‘Detective Pikachu’.

Liverpool boss Klopp defends Salah for attending wedding positive COVID-19 test

Jurgen Klopp has said there are no problems with Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool forward attended a wedding in Egypt and then tested positive for the coronavirus.

Salah is out of Liverpool’s match with Premier League leaders Leicester City on Sunday after returning a positive COVID-19 test while on international duty, but Klopp defended the Egypt international, who was pictured celebrating his brother’s wedding among other guests.

Salah will fly back to Liverpool on Friday, having returned another positive test on Wednesday.

• Guardiola: Messi should stay at Barca
• Koeman: No issues with Messi, Griezmann

• Klopp backs Salah over wedding visit

Salah will travel back to the UK on a “medical-equipped private jet” — according to the Egyptian FA — with Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny, who also tested positive for COVID-19.

“I’ve been in close contact with him [Salah] all over the time,” Klopp told a news conference on Friday. “When you have a negative test, the process starts. He’s in a good place, he feels well, he has no symptoms. Nothing to say in public about the situation.

“What I can tell you is that I was in Germany in the summer. A friend moved his birthday party because of me because I was in Germany. Fifty people attended that and at the last minute I decided not to go. That was only a birthday party and it was allowed in Germany at the time. It was outside but I didn’t go. In other countries and situations there are different social pressures on you.

“A brother’s wedding is a very special moment. What I can say about my players: they are incredibly disciplined. They really know about the situation. All the rest is between Mo and me. We are fine.”

Klopp’s preparations for the visit of Brendan Rodgers’ side have been disrupted with further injuries to an already depleted squad.

Joe Gomez has undergone surgery on the knee injury he picked up with England, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson will both miss Sunday’s match due to a calf problem and a groin issue respectively.

Klopp would not be drawn on whether Fabinho, Thiago or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be available. With Virgil van Dijk and Gomez long-term absentees, Klopp has just one fit senior centre-back in Joel Matip, but said this is not a time to look for excuses.

“We don’t feel sorry for ourselves, or any self-pity,” Klopp added. “You are in the solution process a minute after getting the news. We will fight with all we have.”

“We are a unit, a proper unit, the more problems we have, the closer we stick together. We don’t go for excuses — we don’t like injuries as it’s hard for the boys but all the

Liam Payne brings back Blue Steel for new Hugo Boss collection

Liam’s new collection is highlighting responsible fashion (Picture: HUGO)

Liam Payne has teamed up with Hugo Boss for yet another collection and this time round, he’s bringing his Blue Steel back to highlight ethical fashion.

The One Direction star, 27, is an ambassador for the fashion house and is dropping his third collection with Hugo Boss – this time choosing to focus on sustainability while doing so.

Of course, Liam made sure to model the new designs and treated fans to a brooding photoshoot of him rocking his best Blue Steel – giving Zoolander a run for his money while working the camera from every angle.

Flashing his tattoos, Liam worked his way through a series of outfit changes, showcasing a variety of logo T-shirts, shirts and cool tracksuits.

The minimalistic shoot saw Liam flaunting his catwalk credentials as he posed up a storm while surrounded by plants and some serious mood lighting.

Liam teased his 21.7million Instagram followers with a sneak peek of his Hugo Boss collaboration by sharing a short video from him in action on set.

Clearly thrilled with the shoot and his designs, the Strip That Down hit-maker wrote alongside his post: ‘I’m excited to share with you all my new capsule collection with @hugo_official!

‘With this third collection we wanted sustainability to be at the heart of the products, using different materials and styles to make something really special for everyone.’

The collection focuses on responsible fashion and is in partnership with Cotton Made in Africa, an initiative that has worked alongside Hugo Boss since 2019.

The initiative helps to improve the living conditions of African cotton farmers and their families and shares environmentally friendly methods of cotton cultivation.

Liam’s also designed sweatshirts and tracksuits (Picture: HUGO)

Liam’s collection boasts earthy colours – think off-whites, beige and your khaki greens – and is a mix of cool tees, sweatshirts, polo-shirts, tracksuits and utility suits.

‘I think with everything going on this year, we’re all thinking about the future a lot more than we used to,’ Liam said.

‘I’m proud of what we’ve achieved with this capsule; it looks great and at the same time is highlighting the important work that Cotton made in Africa does.’

It follows on from Liam’s underwear collection with Hugo Boss that dropped last year and brought with it a naked photoshoot that his mum wasn’t exactly best pleased about.

In April, Liam revealed his mum’s hilarious reaction to that steamy shoot with model Stella Maxwell – y’know the one, where she’s basically covering his modesty by lying on top of him while topless – and she was, well, shocked.

‘She saw the shots just before they came out and obviously there’s some

TV Insiders are speculating about the future of CBS News boss Susan Zirinsky

  • Susan Zirinsky is dropping some big hints that she is unhappy with aspects of her role, leading to speculation that there may be changes at the top of CBS News, sources said.
  •  They said while she’s passionate about producing, administrative and financial aspects of her role are getting her down. Speculation about who could replace her is mounting.
  • A CBS News spokeswoman declined to comment but pointed to an internal memo from CEO George Cheeks praising Zirinsky; parent ViacomCBS also declined to comment.
  • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

Susan Zirinsky, the producer who helped inspire the movie, “Broadcast News,” is dropping some big hints that she is unhappy with aspects of her role, leading to speculation that there may be changes at the top of CBS News.

Four news industry sources, two with inside knowledge and two close to the situation, told Business Insider that Zirinsky is sharing that the administrative and financial aspects of her role are getting her down, even while she is still passionate about producing.

“She’s been noisy about being miserable,” said one of them, who is close to CBS News. Another person said: “She has not been shy about telling people she is miserable in the job,” adding, “Everyone is campaigning for the job.”

Zirinsky’s new boss, CBS chief executive George Cheeks, who joined earlier this year from NBCUniversal, is in the midst of reviewing CBS News as part of a companywide review. Senior CBS insiders have been quietly soliciting names in case Zirinsky should decide it’s time to step down, this person said.

A CBS News spokeswoman declined to comment but pointed to an internal memo from Cheeks praising Zirinsky, who just received the prestigious National Press Club’s Fourth Estate Award, which was also bestowed on legendary CBS News man Walter Cronkite. CBS’ parent company ViacomCBS also declined comment.

Zirinsky, who is beloved by the CBS News old guard and is known by the nickname “Z,”  stepped into the role in January 2019, breaking ground as the first woman to lead a news division at a broadcast network. “She’s got immense loyalty. Everybody loves her,” said one of the four sources, who has worked with her.

Zirinsky took power in the middle of a major misconduct scandal

She took over in the middle of a corporate crisis where an outside law firm investigated misconduct allegations against the former CBS chief executive Leslie Moonves, who denied wrongdoing and was ousted from his post. The rocky period also saw the departure of Charlie Rose, who had anchored the morning news show with Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell.

Zirinsky retained her title as senior executive producer when she became president, according to her LinkedIn account, and isn’t likely to exit the company even if there’s a role change, with two sources speculating she’s likely to remain at CBS producing major news specials. Other insiders say Zirinsky is energized and has no intentions of stepping back or even stepping up to a chairman’s role.

‘Beauty and the Boss’ on iflix

A businessman who has no time for love sets her eyes on a woman who’s charisma and attitude will make him fall in love.

iflix puts a twist on this classic storyline with its newest original series – Beauty And The Boss – which premiered last Friday, Nov. 6 , and every week thereof. There will be six episodes for the series.

Two of the country’s rising stars and former PBB Housemate Elisse Joson and Gino Roque IV, star in this romantic comedy which talks about falling in love from the guy’s point-of-view. Rafa (played by Roque) breaks away from the family business and opens his own café. Stella (Joson) is a young woman who applies to work at the café.

Her hardworking-ambitious attitude earns her high praise at work, but it’s her charm and kindness that seems to be winning someone’s heart. How will their love story, surrounded by cupcakes and all kinds of sweet treats, play out?

The series took 12 days to film, according to director James Mayo, during a digital press conference recently. Joson was a personal preference by Roque for the role, it was learned.

“Getting to know Ellise, I was intimidated at first. With Elise, she has all the characteristics of Stella and she’s innate caring. She goes out of her way for all of us and you don’t see that very often,” said Roque.

Joson said: “He’s really the boss and this role is basically like him and he’s a nice boss, not “intimidating aura” like other bosses.”

On working for their chemistry as love team, Roque said: “Our team chose Ellise because she embodies Stella… so they gravitated towards her.”

Joson added: “It was pitched to me and I was like “why not?” I always enjoy to work with new people.”

Bake Boss Jandakot couple celebrate with WA’s biggest wedding cake

TWO professional cake makers have gone all out for their own nuptials and created what may be WA’s biggest ever wedding cake.

Bake Boss Jandakot’s Joe and Casey Locke wowed family and friends at the reception with an over-the-top skyscraper of a wedding cake when they married last month.

The happy couple are known for their over-the-top, outrageous and creative designs, although what they served up for their wedding has taken the cake.

Towering at 2.2m tall – or 3.1m if you include the table it sat upon – and with a diameter of 1.5m, the cake was comprised of 13 tiers.

The (metaphorical) icing on the cake came in the form of two actual fish tanks, filled with Siamese fighting fish, which accounted for two of the 13 tiers.

The duo said they embraced the challenge of creating their own wedding cake and started designing it towards the tail-end of last year, ignoring advice they often offer to their customers.

“We tell people ‘you’re stupid if you make your own wedding cake’; we still stand by that,” Mr Locke said.

“We had time, we’ve got the space, but even this wasn’t enough space; we had to put it through the wall sideways to get it through the door.”

The fish tanks were added as an unusual twist to make their cake stand out even further, although Mr Locke admitted they ultimately proved were the toughest obstacle.

“The top one worked, but the bottom one kept failing and leaking. They were the things that almost broke us,” he said.

To further complicate matters, the pair went through two batches of fish after the first lot died at the pet store, and the second met their demise at the paws of their pet cat.

When it came to constructing the mega-cake for the big day, Mr Locke said they were fortunate their wedding venue was available the day before.

“It took us just under four hours to set up, and we had four men with drills, glue guns, ladders and an electrician,” he said.

“We set it up in lot of parts to make it easy, it was planned perfectly, but it still took us four hours.”

With the wedding cake out of the way, the couple can now return attention to their regular, larger-than-life sweet projects — which can incorporate motors, lights, pumps and even airbags and speakers.

M&S Boss Spoofed in Gift Voucher Scam

Criminals are impersonating the boss of a major British multinational retailer to trick victims into sharing their bank account details.

Posing as Marks & Spencer CEO Steve Rowe, the scammers have posted fraudulent adverts online that promise victims the chance to win a gift voucher as part of a fictitious prize draw promotion.

When victims click on the link in the ad, they are taken to an M&S-branded portal and asked to provide their name, address, mobile phone number, and bank details including SORT code and account number.

The fraudulent adverts, uncovered by the Parliament Street think tank’s cyber-research team, have been uploaded to social networking site Facebook from an unverified page entitled “Marks and Spencer Store.”

The adverts depict a man who bears no resemblance to the real Steve Rowe clutching M&S-branded shopping bags accompanied by the message, “Hello everyone, my name is Steve Rowe and I am the CEO of Marks and Spencer! I’ve an announcement to make – To celebrate our 135th Anniversary, We are giving EVERYONE who shares & then comments by 11.59pm tonight one of these mystery bags containing a £35 M&S voucher plus goodies! Make sure you enter here [URL].”

Those who know their retail history will easily be able to spot that the advert is fake as Marks and Spencer was in fact formed in 1884 when Michael Marks, a Polish refugee, opened a market stall in Leeds, with the slogan “Don’t ask the price, it’s a penny.” In 1894, Marks went into partnership with Thomas Spencer, a former cashier from the wholesale company Dewhirst.

“As we head into the busy shopping season, we can only expect to see more of these types of ‘sale’ scams emerge online,” commented Tessian CEO Tim Sadler. “Treat these posts just like you would any phishing email; ask yourself if this deal seems legitimate and verify the identity of the person requesting you to take an action, before clicking on any links.

“And if you’re still unsure, visit the retailer’s website and official social media channels to cross-check that the deal has been mentioned elsewhere.”
