“True Beauty” Star Hwang In Yeob Talks About Chemistry With Moon Ga Young And Cha Eun Woo, How He Resembles His Character, And More

Ahead of the premiere of tvN’s “True Beauty,” Hwang In Yeob dished on his character and his experience filming the drama!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “True Beauty” is a romantic comedy about a girl named Lim Ju Gyeong (played by Moon Ga Young), who zealously uses makeup to hide her bare face and combat her insecurities about her looks. ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo will star in the drama as Lee Su Ho, a popular student with his own emotional wounds, while Hwang In Yeob will play Han Seo Jun, an untamable rebel with a surprisingly warm heart.

“True Beauty” marks Hwang In Yeob’s very first time playing a leading role, and the actor couldn’t contain his excitement as he spoke about the drama.

“A year ago, I first saw in an article that ‘True Beauty’ would be adapted into a drama, and I thought to myself, ‘How great would it be if I could be in this drama?’” he recalled. “Thankfully, the opportunity to audition came my way, and I ended up actually being able to play the cool character of Han Seo Jun. I’m extremely delighted, and it feels like a dream.”

“I’m acting happily,” he went on. “As many people are looking forward to the drama with love and interest, I’m working hard to do my very best and show good things.”

Describing his character, Hwang In Yeob remarked, “Seo Jun is very stylish, and he looks rough and rebellious on the outside, but he’s actually a very warm-hearted and considerate guy. He’s a character that you just can’t hate, and he shows new and diverse charms depending on whom he’s interacting with.”

When asked whether his real-life personality resembled that of Han Seo Jun, the actor replied, “I think my level of synchronization with Han Seo Jun is 50 percent. We’re similar in the way that I, like Seo Jun, have a cold and sharp image that makes me seem hard to approach, but I’m actually the complete opposite. I laugh a lot, and I joke around a lot, and I’m the type who likes to talk to other people. I also have a lot of interest in fashion in real life.”

As for how he prepared for the role, Hwang In Yeob shared, “He’s such a visually striking character that from head to toe, I worried a lot about ‘What can I do to make myself Seo Jun-esque?’ I’m currently working together with the stylist team to try different things and figure out what will make me look more like Han Seo Jun while also suiting me personally.”

He continued, “Visual elements aside, I’m also talking to the director a lot and working hard to try to portray Seo Jun’s emotions well through my acting.”

That’s not all that Hwang In Yeob’s done to prepare for the drama, however. The actor went on to reveal, “Because I wanted to coolly portray Seo Jun, I got a motorcycle license in real life,

Moon Ga Young Talks About Her “True Beauty” Character And Working With Cha Eun Woo And Hwang In Yeob

Moon Ga Young talked about her new role in tvN’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama “True Beauty”!

Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, “True Beauty” is a romantic comedy about a girl named Lim Ju Gyeong (Moon Ga Young) who zealously uses makeup to hide her bare face and combat her insecurities about her looks. ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo will star in the drama as Lee Su Ho, a popular student who has his own emotional wounds, while Hwang In Yeob will play Han Seo Jun, an untamable rebel with a surprisingly warm heart.

Moon Ga Young revealed that she had chosen to star in “True Beauty” because she could feel a bright energy from the project. She explained, “Since Lim Ju Gyeong is a new kind of character I have yet to meet, I had the mindset of wanting to take on the challenge.”

The actress commented, “Since Lim Ju Gyeong is a character who can travel across different genres, her charm is that I can portray her freely. She’ll even have action scenes, so please look forward to Lim Ju Gyeong’s performance.”

On her similarities with her character, Moon Ga Young revealed that the two both had a definitive taste in music. However, the actress explained that she is the type to worry and have a lot of thoughts while Lim Ju Gyeong has a very bright and optimistic personality.

Moon Ga Young revealed, “In episode 1, Ju Gyeong goes through a lot of trial and error before she becomes remarkably skilled in makeup. We had a fun time filming this process, so I’m curious to find out how the viewers will see this.”

The actress also talked about her “True Beauty” co-stars. She shared, “Cha Eun Woo has a tsundere (having cold outward behavior while actually being warm and caring on the inside) charm, and Hwang In Yeob has a charming voice. I’m having an enjoyable time filming with the two of them.”

Moon Ga Young commented, “‘True Beauty’ will be a relatable, lovable, and heart-fluttering drama that paints the concerns, transformations, and growth that everyone goes through at least once in their teens as they become an adult.” She added, “Please look out for how each of the figures will overcome their growing pains to mature.” Finally, Moon Ga Young asked viewers to look forward to the drama.

“True Beauty” premieres on December 9 at 10:30 p.m. KST and will be available with English subtitles on Viki.

Loose Women’s Denise Welch opens up about Hollyoaks character

From Digital Spy

Hollyoaks is welcoming Denise Welch to the cast in January 2021, with the actress having been cast as Maxine Minniver’s mum, dance teacher Trish Minniver.

It has already been teased that Trish’s arrival could cause trouble for Maxine (Nikki Sanderson), and Welch revealed a few more details about her character on Loose Women today (November 11), saying that she will have “a hunky lover”.

“It’s been lovely,” she said of her first few days of filming on the Channel 4 soap. “Do you know, I’ve never been welcomed so much as I have been by the Hollyoaks gang.

“As well, I have a hunky lover who I can’t say who it is yet… I’ve got someone very, very, very, very easy on the eye.”

The actress wouldn’t be drawn on who will be playing Trish’s love interest but she revealed that she is very excited about being able to play “a bit of a goer”, adding that she’s pleased the writers are “writing for an older woman of my age who still is quite active in that department”.

Of course, passionate scenes between actors are currently off the table on soaps due to social distancing measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but there have been examples of soaps using actors’ real-life partners as body doubles for more intimate scenes.

Welch revealed that Hollyoaks is ready to do the same for her own romantic scenes, joking that her real-life husband Lincoln Townley might soon be called on to help out.

“They have said that there may be a time when they will call Lincoln in if I have to actually do a kiss,” she said. “They’ve already got the wig ready for when the actor’s wife comes in… Lincoln might have to come in and be my hunk!”

The actress, who has also starred in Coronation Street and Waterloo Road, also revealed the element of her new role that has most surprised her.

She explained: “When they offered it to me, they didn’t say, ‘Can you dance?’ So because (Trish runs) a dance school, I thought I’d be like on Dance Moms where she just stood there and shouted out all the things. No, I keep having to go in for like Pan’s People dance rehearsals! It’s hard work.”

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, air on Fridays at 7pm on E4.
