In a new interview with Attitude, the Beauty and the Beast actor said he was surprised by the rumors that he, an openly gay man, was trying to go back in the closet in order to protect his career prospects.

“It was the last thing I had, because everything else I’ve given to the world. My career was public, I was photographed, and all that stuff. My personal life just became the last thing that I had, Evans explained to the outlet. “Also, what was strange was that when people did find out that I was gay, there was a lot of articles and stuff written saying that I was hiding it, and I wasn’t.”

He shared that he left his very religious home in Wales at 16 in order to search for acceptance.

“I just wanted to get online and I wanted to pick up the phone and say, ‘Do you realize I left home at 16 because I was gay?’ I went into the world as a kid, because I had to. I am proud and happy, and I’ve lived a very big life that I’m super happy with. And I’ve never been ashamed,” he added. “And now all of a sudden I was being treated in this way and it was a scary moment because I was, like, oh God, this is horrible. This is not true. None of this is true.”

Beauty and the Beast Premieres Around the World

The Alienist star, who most recently dated Rafa Olarra, shared his love of the LGBTQ+ community on Instagram in honor of Pride Month in June.

In the caption of a photo the read “Choose Love,” Evans wrote, “Why would anyone choose anything else? Happy Pride Lovers!! #happypride #pride #pridemonth #chooselove.”

Evans is slated to portray his first onscreen gay character in a Hulu adaptation of Nine Perfect Strangers, which is based on Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty‘s novel of the same name. It stars Nicole Kidman as the lead guru of a possibly sinister wellness retreat.

A vegan beauty magnate has been charged with attempted fraud after allegedly inflating an insurance claim with Airbnb after a guest trashed her luxury apartment and stole jewellery, $40,000 worth of designer dresses and 18 pairs of shoes from Gucci and Chanel.

Cassandra House, 35, will front court next month after allegedly lodging a false insurance claim against the online rental giant for $1million.

House previously claimed in a lawsuit filed against the accommodation provider’s insurers that the guest at her Gold Coast beachfront home destroyed her luxury Kruger pans and kitchen pots worth more than $1,300.

Ms House – a high-ranking consultant with multi-level marketing giant Arbonne – also claimed the guest stole a $50 silver banana and a $279 bottle of Dom Perignon champagne.

She was charged with one count of attempted fraud earlier this month to appear in Southport Magistrates Court in December, the Gold Coast Bulletin reports.

Damages were filed after the guest stayed at her apartment on Southport’s Main Beach between April 1 and April 5 in 2018.

The motivational speaker said in her filing the stolen banana matched the ‘apple decor’ of her two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment – which is available to rent for $700 per week.

Other six-figure valuations in the long list of claims include $10,000 worth of Swarovski jewellery,  $25,000 worth of Tiffany and Co ‘diamond gifts’ from Arbonne and $55,000 in engagement presents.

Police will allege House submitted several insurance claims to Airbnb but the goods claimed to be stolen were overvalued.

The guest was reportedly charged with theft, according to the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“I’M VERY MUCH SO TAKEN BACK BY THE THE LACK OF RESPECT FOR ANOTHER BLACK WOMAN! THERE IS THIS TIRED NARRATIVE THAT THE BLAVK WOMAN IS SO DISRESPECTED, BUT WE DO IT TO EACH OTHER!!!!”

Megan has now responded during an interview with The Morning Hustle Podcast, stating, “A lot of times, people say that they talked to somebody from my team. I don’t know what year that was, I don’t know who… what are you talking about? And a lot of times, they won’t even bring me… they don’t tell me who they talking to.

“I feel bad that people’s initial reaction would be to just come at me like, ‘Oh, you a black woman! You’re stealing from black women!’ And I’m like, ‘Damn, hold on, sis, ’cause, like, I don’t know you’.”

Denying the allegations, Megan added, “If it would’ve been a real misunderstanding, I would’ve never had a problem saying, ‘I’m sorry, sis’. I would have checked my stylist. Like, you don’t do that. That’s not right. And then I would’ve had the dress taken down, whatever the money made from the dress, I would’ve gave the money to the girl if that was really something that she felt like was stolen from her.”

Aazhia has responded, adding, “I’m vexed because it’s condescending, it’s disrespectful, it’s hypocritical. Everything that she said was addressed towards me… My dress is from the ’90s. And she also said, in her opinion, it’s not stolen… But for me, all I saw was more disrespect.”

Burlington Boys, South Burlington Claim D-1 Soccer Titles in Dramatic Fashion

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Burlington Boys and South Burlington Girls both tallied remarkable goals to complete upsets in the D-1 soccer state championships Saturday at BHS.

The fifth-seeded Seahorses battled through a nervy affair with #3 Essex, with both goalkeepers maintaining clean sheets through 80 minutes of regulation time. But in the first overtime period, it appeared that the Hornets had claimed the title. Off a long throw in, Matt Correia headed the ball into the net to seemingly end the game. But as Essex was celebrating, the linesman waved it off, ruling Correia had pushed off a defender to clear space.

Given a new lease on life, it did not take long for Burlington to take advantage. About a minute later, Manoj Karki whipped a ball into the box, and Gonzalaiz Arakaza rose up to meet it, beating the Hornet keeper to the ball and handing the Seahorses a dramatic 1-0 overtime win.

“It was an adrenaline rush,” Arakaza said after the game. “Honestly I was out of breath. I couldn’t run anymore, my feet were cramping up and I just went for it and that happened! This for my country Burundi though, this is where I was born and I’m very happy to be able to play for BHS.”

The win gave BHS its first title since 2016 (also won by a 1-0 scoreline over Essex in the final) and the sixth in program history.

The South Burlington girls’ victory may not have been quite as dramatic but it was even more stunning. Entering Saturday’s final, CVU hadn’t lost a game since falling on penalties in the 2016 semifinals, had won nine of the last ten state titles including each of the last three, and hadn’t given up a goal from the run of play all season. The Wolves ended all of those streaks with a shocking 2-1 upset to claim their first state title in a decade.

After the Redhawks staked out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a rocket from Josie Pecor, SB got to work to get back in the game. A misplay at the back by the Redhawks allowed Madison King-Thurber to sneak behind the defense and keeper to level the score before halftime, and deep into the second half, Rachel Kelley delivered the deathblow to the CVU dynasty. The Wolves freshman beat her defender into the box and chipped the charging keeper to hand South Burlington the win.

“Being a freshman on this team, it was just so amazing to be able to contribute to it,” Kelley said. “And to have the opportunity to play with my sister who’s a senior, it’s just so crazy, feels so amazing.”

“We came out here thinking that there’s always a possibility, that we just have to play our hardest, and no matter what the outcome is, we love each other,” King-Thurber said. “I think that’s what put us ahead because we played as a team.”

With the win, South Burlington avenged six playoff losses
