The Hollywood tape was working overtime as the country’s fashion pack jockeyed for a photo finish ahead of a Melbourne Cup like no other.
The well-heeled weren’t strutting the Birdcage at Flemington Racecourses, with crowds banned from the race for the first time since its inception in 1861.
Instead, they flocked elsewhere for one of the first red carpet events since Melbourne’s strict lockdown was lifted.
Bras were optional for many, with cleavage one of this year’s must-have accessories.
Controversial SAS Australia star Arabella Del Busso flaunted her curves in a dress that was a throwback to Jennifer Lopez’s show stopping Versace silk chiffon gown that she wore to the Grammy Awards in 2000.
Socialite and former NRL WAG Nadia Bartel went bra-free in a slim-line metallic blue Atoir dress at a media call.
In Queensland, SAS Australia star and former Bachelorette Ali Oetjen also went sans bra in a cleavage-baring blazer mini-dress and wide brimmed black hat. She was spotted out and about with co-star swimmer Shayna Jack who donned a fire-engine red off the shoulder number.
Meanwhile, fellow SAS Australia star and PR maven Roxy Jacenko was dripping in diamonds and decked out in camouflage for her $3000 Melbourne Cup frock.
“Went subtle this Cup day,” she joked alongside a photo on Instagram.
Jacenko’s followers were keen on the look, praising her daring: “You’ll need a body guard – stay safe gorgeous,” wrote one. “Shining bright as always xxx just gorgeous,” posted another.
Rebecca Judd took a more wholesome approach, posting a sweet picture of six-year-old daughter Billie.
