It is the first weekend of November. Though it is getting darker earlier, there is still plenty to do around Central New York, both live and virtually.
Colin Aberdeen will have a virtual concert from Unity Hall and Symphoria will perform Beethoven for classical music fans to enjoy at home.

Beethoven at Symphoria
Symphoria’s principal winds and strings will feature Beethoven’s Septet, which was one the composer’s most popular works during his lifetime, on Saturday night. The concert will be streamed virtually from Inspiration Hall in Syracuse. The program will begin with Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Danse Negre,” which is filled with swinging rhythms and repeated melodies. Dvorak’s dramatic and austere Symphony No. 7, with its ominous opening on through the rhapsodic finale completes the program.

Grand opening of Jus Sum Jazz Lounge
Come downtown this weekend for the grand opening for Syracuse’s latest jazz spot. The Jus Sum Jazz Lounge, located at 1965 West Fayette Street, will be bringing “jazz, great vibes and specialty cocktails” to the Salt City. There will be live music, giveaways, door prizes and special guests all weekend. Parties of up to 10 people can reserve a private space. There will be a “classy and sexy” dress code. Looking to do some good for your community this weekend? On Saturday, Nov. 7, We Rise Above the Streets will resume servicing the homeless of Syracuse. Volunteers will gather to make sandwiches at 404 Oak Street. Please call ahead at (315) 491-7164 for an appointment to volunteer. If you are busy that day, donations are always welcome. All social distancing and safety protocols will be practiced.

Fall in Love with Arts and Crafts
Support local businesses and artists at the “Fall in Love with Arts and Crafts” show at Canastota’s Graystone Castle this weekend. The show will feature three floors of local art and crafts. Attendance will be limited to 25 percent at a time and masks are required.
